Find a believer who blesses your soul. Loves God, does His Word, and stays faithful.
This is the person you'll make countless decisions with for life.
Look for someone spiritually strong who can stand with you and prevail together.
If marriage is what you want, believe and take positive action toward it.
Don't let finding a spouse outrank God. He stays first.
Build friendship first. Let romance grow out of it, not the other way around.
God doesn't put marriages together. Two people do.
Who do you marry?
Find a believer who blesses you in the *soul category.
Someone who loves God and actually does His Word, not just talks about it. Someone who thinks the way you think about the deep things, the things that matter twenty years from now. Someone committed to the Word and to serving, someone faithful all the way through.
That's the standard. Not perfect. Faithful.
This is the person you'll decide life with
The man or woman you marry is the one you'll make countless decisions with, for the rest of your life. Big ones and small ones, the kind that pile up into an entire life together.
So you want someone who believes God for the right answers, someone you can depend on to believe with you no matter what situation you're standing in. You want a spiritual spouse. Strong in the Lord. Someone who can stand next to you, back down whatever the adversary throws at you, and prevail together with you instead of falling apart the first time things get hard.
If marriage is something you actually want, then put these principles to work. Believing and taking positive action both matter here. Find a believer you can stand with, someone you can make a lifetime commitment to, and get married.
Keep it in perspective
Here's the caution. Don't let finding a spouse become bigger to you than living each day for God. He stays first. Not marriage. Him. Everything else, this included, is underneath that.
Build the friendship first
You want your spouse to be your best friend. So really, what you're doing in all this dating is building friendship. That transition, from just friends to friends who are falling in love, is one of the sweetest parts of the whole thing. Don't rush past it trying to get to the romance.
What age should you get married?
God doesn't put marriages together. Two people do.
*Soul = your breath life. It’s your personality and what makes you, you.
Spirit = what God gives you when you are born again, according to Romans 10:9, when you confess with your mouth Jesus Christ as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
Body = your physical body. Flesh and bones.
When you are born to your mom and dad, you are born into the physical world of your earthly family.
You are born body and soul.
AFTER you are born again into God’s family (Romans 10:9) you are a three-part being. Body, soul, spirit.
